Lower pinyon-juniper woodland; assoc. with Pinus monophylla, Quercus turbinella, Juniperus osteosperma, Haplopappus cuneatus, Keckiella antirrhinoides, Cheilanthes covillei, Aristida fendleriana, Mimulus rubellus, M. pilosus, Myosurus cupulatus, etc.
